The Perfect Wedding Unity Sand Ceremony
If you are recently engaged and planning a Wedding, you are probably thinking of all the things you need to do to make your special day perfect. A ceremony site, the florist, the photographer, a reception site, the dress, the cake, the vows and much more all combine for creating the kind of Wedding Day you've been hoping for. As you pour through the magazines, attend bridal shows, and browse the internet looking for ideas to bring it all together, you may begin to ask yourself how you can capture the moment you're working so hard to achieve in a very symbolic way that will take you back to your perfectly planned Wedding many years from that day.

For many couples, including a Unity Ceremony in their Wedding is regarded as a deeply symbolic way to really capture the essence of their Wedding Day. Traditionally performed using a Unity Candle or Roses, this ceremony brings together the couple, the families, and all their planning, hopes, and aspirations in a single moment. The Unity Ceremony is viewed by many as a unique expression of the culmination of the couple's journey through their lives that resulted in their union of marriage and the joining of their families. The Unity Candle, roses, or other items used in the Unity Ceremony are intended to become a Wedding Day Keepsake that will symbolize the couple's love far into their future together.

For todays' couples, the Unity Sand Ceremony has emerged as a popular new trend in Weddings everywhere. Having gained national exposure through its use in very exclusive celebrity Weddings, the Sand Ceremony has become a highly sought after addition to Weddings around the world. The joining and blending of the sands during a Wedding Unity Sand Ceremony is widely regarded as the ultimate symbol of the union of the couple and their families, and serves as a unique and touching addition to any Wedding. The Wedding Sand Ceremony has been commonly performed using vases, and is very popular in beach weddings, outdoor weddings, resort weddings, destination weddings, and theme weddings.

The Heirloom Hourglass Wedding Unity Sand Ceremony takes the deep symbolic value of the sand ceremony a step further by incorporating the use of an hourglass. Heirloom Hourglass is the world's only hourglass that can be opened and closed and filled with real beach sand or colored sand, making it the perfect Wedding Day Sand Ceremony solution. Heirloom Hourglasses are handcrafted in Upstate New York from premium quality materials. These special hourglasses and much more information can be found at
http://www.heirloomhourglass.com. To perform the Hourglass Wedding Unity Ceremony, all that is needed is an Heirloom Hourglass and the Heirloom Hourglass Wedding Package. This package consists of two sand holders, a written ceremony to be read by the Wedding Officiant, and a glass funnel for filling the hourglasses. Before the Wedding, the couple collects sand from a place or places that have special meaning to them. These places may include a beach the couple went to with family when they were children, the first beach they ever went to together as a couple, or from the beach where they first saw the ocean. Many couples also use colored sand. Utilizing different colors of sand is the perfect way to match wedding colors, symbolize the couple, their families, andit is also the ideal way to include extended family and children. During the Wedding, the Officiant reads the ceremony, and the couple pours their sands into the hourglass at the same time. As the sands begin to blend and flow together and the hourglass is sealed, the couple has captured the essence of their Wedding Day, preserved the memories, and created an heirloom that can be passed down through many generations of their new family.

The hourglass is widely regarded as the ultimate symbol of the passage of time, making it the perfect Sand Ceremony accessory. Each evening, or whenever they wish, the couple may turn the hourglass over and watch their sands from their Wedding Day flow and blend together more and more over time. This is deeply symbolic of their marriage and their love, and it will take them back to how they felt on their Wedding Day for many years to come.

As a solution, the Heirloom Hourglass Wedding Unity Sand Ceremony is perfect in its ease of use, deep symbolic value, tremendous visual appeal, inclusion of extended family, and it serves as a great alternative to traditional Unity Ceremonies and Sand Ceremonies. If your ceremony site prohibits the use of candles, or if you are planning an outdoor wedding, beach wedding, or theme wedding, you may want to consider the use of the Heirloom Hourglass Sand Ceremony. If the traditional sand ceremony has always appealed to you, but you have been looking for a way to create an heirloom and to allow for the sands to flow together whenever you wish, Heirloom Hourglass is definitely your answer. Maybe you are just looking for a way to really make your Wedding stand out.....if so, you will find that Heirloom Hourglass is designed with you in mind, and to be a beautiful, touching addition to your Wedding.

Heirloom Hourglass comes in 15 different models, and many more are on the way. Heirloom Hourglass is also perfect for Engagement Gifts, Anniversaries, Honeymoons, Valentine's Day, and it makes a unique and deeply symbolic gift for any occasion. Visit us on the web at

Introducing Heirloom Hourglass
Hello, and welcome to the Heirloom Hourglass Blog! This is the first of many postings to come, and I hope you enjoy this introduction to our company and products. You can find us on the web at http://www.heirloomhourglass.com/. We will be posting information on upcoming product releases, company news, tips for the perfect Wedding Unity Sand Ceremony, and much more. Please share your thoughts and comments - your feedback is very important to us, and we would love to hear from you!

Heirloom Hourglass is a small, family-run company located in Upstate New York. We produce custom, handcrafted hourglasses that can be filled with real beach sand that you collect in your travels. These hourglasses are used in Wedding Unity Sand Ceremonies, as gifts, and as travel souvenirs. People may fill them with beach sand, colored sand, small shells, seaglass, and more. Heirloom Hourglasses are crafted from the finest materials such as solid hardwoods, solid pewter ship wheel closures, and our proprietary Oceanstone bases. You can learn more by visiting our website at

The inspiration for Heirloom Hourglass came during a cruise to The Bahamas. Whenever I go to a beach at a location I've never been to before (and may never return to again), I always bring a small amount of sand home with me to remember the experience by. Upstate NY is not a warm place for a good part of the year, so it is nice to have some beach sand around as a momento of a fun trip to a warm, unique place! I never really had a good way to store the sand though - it always ended up in a small glass bottle on my desk, or even just stayed in the bag I collected it in with a label on it. After returning from the trip to The Bahamas with some sand from Cabbage Beach on Paradise Island, I thought that it would be ideal if I could store the sand in an hourglass. The hourglass is widely regarded as the ultimate symbol of the passage of time, and is a nautical device that has been used since ancient times. These characteristics and the desire to have a meaningful souvenir to remember a trip by resulted in the birth of Heirloom Hourglass!

When we began producing Heirloom Hourglass, my Wife commented on how perfect they would be for use in Wedding Unity Sand Ceremonies. Now, this has become the most popular use for them and we have shipped Heirloom Hourglasses all over the world for use in Weddings. After the Wedding, couples have an hourglass filled with sand from their special day that can be turned over each evening or whenever they wish. Each time their Heirloom Hourglass is turned over, their sands flow together and blend more and more, which is very symbolic of their marriage and the joining of their families. Knowing that Heirloom Hourglasses are part of someone's Wedding and that they can be passed down through many generations of their new family is one of the most satisfying parts of the business.

In addition to Weddings, many people tell us they use them as gifts for Anniversaries, Valentine's Day, Honeymoons, and Birthdays. People will frequently collect sand from the first beach they visited as a child, and give their parents an Heirloom Hourglass filled with this sand. Couples collect sand from the first beach they went to together to fill the hourglass with, and this makes for a very meaningful and symbolic gift to each other. There are currently 15 different models of Heirloom Hourglass to choose from, and we have many more on the way. All Heirloom Hourglasses help you capture a moment, preserve the memory, and create an heirloom!

Every Heirloom Hourglass comes with a Collection Kit that has everything needed to collect sand and fill the hourglass. In this kit, you'll find a strainer that ensures the sand will flow through the center hole of the hourglass when it's turned over. Every kit also includes an individually numbered gift book with a declaration of authenticity so you know that your Heirloom Hourglass is an original. There is space in the book to write names, dates, locations, notes to the recipient of the hourglass if it is to be a gift, or the story of your Heirloom Hourglass. When this information is recorded, you are personalizing your hourglass and ensuring it's story can be enjoyed by future generations. We also offer engraved plates that can be personalized and adhered to the hourglass bases. These plates come in gold or silver, and they are the perfect finishing touch for your Heirloom Hourglass.

We see Heirloom Hourglass not only as an opportunity to provide people with a meaningful gift, souvenir, or Wedding Day Keepsake, but also as an opportunity to give. Through a unique program we call "Camaraderie", we make a donation to the environmental or charitable organization of the buyers choice each time an hourglass is sold. Currently the donation is $1.00, and we hope to be able to increase it to $5.00 by the end of 2008. We feel that our ability to make a donation is only possible because of a customer's purchase, so that customer should get to choose where the donation goes. We hope that this small effort helps to increase awareness and that it makes a difference in some way. Heirloom Hourglass salutes everyone that works to preserve our natural environment, and to help those in need.

Thank you once again for visiting! Please tell us what you think of Heirloom Hourglass, and let us know how we can improve. We have many, many versions of Heirloom Hourglass coming, so please check this blog and
